We read a book in Science today about a young boy who really wants to keep his classes "Pet Plant" over the summer. After promising to give the plant all of the living things it needs, he also becomes best friends with the plant as it undergoes "metamorphosis". We even saw a baby picture of Plantzilla and investigated the life cycle of the plant. A lot of questions about plants were raised and I charted the students ideas of what they would like to explore further. Meat-eating plants were a hot topic as Plantzilla eats meat! Let the Research begin! |

I know the students will be coming home and talking about the plant we adopted
(Special thanks to Mrs.McVannel) It is just a baby now, but if we are lucky we will give it what it needs and we can watch it grow. The biggest challenge is the "Full Spectrum" sunlight.
Below are some videos about Venus fly traps and their prey. Students will be researching to find answers to their questions about plants. The Websites listed below will help them find their answers. Their research will be conducted at school as this is an expectation of the Grade 3 curriculum! Feel free to enjoy the videos.
